Not a lot seems to have happened but the roof covering has started to be fitted and the scaffolding has been removed from the inside, and moved to the worship area. The other side of the roof will be started in the next few days.
Welcome to the St. John's Church Hinckley blog site. It tracks the progress of the Church's building project.
St John’s Church has a vision of ‘putting new heart into the community’. The aim is to provide modern and effective facilities to encourage local community investment, in order to provide people with the support that they need to build their lives and fulfil their potential.
The community facilities of St John's church buildings were nearing the end of their useful life and needed replacing! A brand new community centre was planned – designed specifically with children and young people in mind, flexible meeting space for different activities, facilities for the disabled, environmentally friendly with solar panels, and catering facilities for functions and parties. The cost - £615,000!
St John's has an excellent track record in serving its community, currently serving over 300 people each week, but further development of community services is constrained by the size and the state of the building. It is expected that services in the new centre will serve over 600 people each week
Work is now underway and new donations and grants are adding to the total raised, almost daily.
